Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Detailed answers across all areas of care. Click any question to expand the answer.

01 Minimal Access Surgery (Laparoscopy)

It is a surgical technique where small, 5 to 11mm incisions are made to allow a tiny camera and specialised instruments into the pelvis.

Most patients return home the same day or after one night, resuming gentle activities within 1 to 2 weeks.

The incisions are very small, placed strategically in natural skin creases or the belly button to minimise long-term scarring.

02 Robotic Surgery

No. Your surgeon completely controls every movement of the instruments via a high-tech computer console at all times. The robotic system translates the surgeon's hand movements into micro-movements.

It offers exceptional 3D high-definition visualisation and instrument flexibility, allowing for safer, ultra-precise treatment in deep pelvic areas that are difficult to reach with standard laparoscopy.

Hospital stay fees are generally covered by private health funds, though a surgeon's out-of-pocket gap fee may apply. Our team will provide a clear fee estimate before any procedure.

03 General Gynaecological Conditions

If your periods become unexpectedly heavy, restrict your daily activities, cause severe pain, or stop entirely, a consultation is recommended.

No. The majority of cysts are functional, completely harmless, and disappear naturally within a few menstrual cycles. Monitoring with ultrasound is often all that is required.

There is no set age, but an initial consultation is helpful if they experience severe pubertal delays, absent periods, or distressing menstrual symptoms.

04 Endometriosis & Pelvic Pain

While specialised ultrasound and MRI scans can catch advanced cases, a laparoscopic keyhole procedure remains the diagnostic gold standard for confirming endometriosis.

There is no absolute cure, but advanced surgical excision combined with personalised medical management offers excellent long-term symptom relief for the vast majority of patients.

No. Ongoing pain can stem from chronic pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, uterine fibroids, or nerve hypersensitivity, all of which require a comprehensive, individualised assessment.

05 Reproductive Endocrinology

The medical community renamed Polycystic Ovary Syndrome to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome because the old name was misleading. Many women do not have ovarian cysts. The new name accurately reflects its impact on metabolism and multiple hormone systems.

High circulating insulin levels can overstimulate the ovaries, causing them to produce excess androgens (male hormones). This stops egg follicles from maturing and releasing normally, disrupting ovulation.

Uncontrolled thyroid disorders can interfere with implantation and increase the risk of early pregnancy loss. Stabilising thyroid levels with simple daily medication significantly improves pregnancy safety outcomes.

It is an overproduction of prolactin, the hormone responsible for breast milk production. When elevated in non-pregnant women, it signals the brain to suppress ovulation. It is highly treatable with targeted oral medications.

06 Colposcopy & Cervical Health

It is a simple, painless examination where a specialised microscope sits outside the body to provide a magnified, close-up view of your cervix. A mild solution may be applied to highlight any areas of concern.

The test itself feels very similar to a standard Cervical Screening Test (CST) or Pap smear. Most women find it comfortable and non-distressing.

If an area looks unusual under the colposcope, a tiny tissue sample is taken. This can cause a brief, mild cramping sensation. Results are typically available within 1 to 2 weeks.

07 Prolapse Management

It occurs when the pelvic floor muscles stretch or weaken, often due to childbirth, chronic coughing, heavy lifting, or hormonal changes at menopause.

No. Mild to moderate prolapse responds exceptionally well to targeted pelvic floor physiotherapy or a supportive vaginal pessary. Surgery is only considered when conservative options are insufficient.

Most silicone pessaries can stay in place safely for several months before requiring a routine clinic cleaning and check. Many women manage very well with pessary therapy long-term.

08 Menopause Support

Modern, body-identical MHT is highly effective and considered safe for most women when started within 10 years of menopause onset. Your individual risk profile will always be thoroughly assessed before commencing therapy.

Hot flushes and night sweats generally peak for 2 to 5 years, though some women experience symptoms for longer. Structural and metabolic changes associated with menopause may require longer-term care strategies.

We offer a variety of highly effective, evidence-based non-hormonal prescription medications and targeted lifestyle interventions that can significantly improve quality of life during menopause.

09 Mirena & IUD Management

Most women experience brief, period-like cramping during placement, which typically resolves quickly. Over-the-counter pain relief taken beforehand can help. Your comfort is our priority throughout the procedure.

A Mirena provides highly reliable birth control and heavy period protection for up to 5 consecutive years, after which it can be easily replaced in-clinic if desired.

Yes. Many women experience significantly lighter cycles or find their periods stop altogether with a hormonal IUD. This is medically safe and is in fact a therapeutic benefit for women with heavy bleeding.

10 Fertility & Assisted Conception

If you are under 35 and have been trying to conceive for 12 months without success, or after 6 months if you are over 35, a fertility assessment is recommended.

It consists of blood hormone tests and a pelvic ultrasound for women, alongside a semen analysis for men. Results guide a personalised treatment pathway designed around your specific situation.

Not necessarily. Many couples achieve successful pregnancies using simpler steps such as cycle tracking, lifestyle modifications, or minor surgical correction. IVF is considered when simpler approaches have not succeeded.
